Vision
My vision for technology use in P-12 schools focuses of empowering students to take charge of their education by utilizing technology rich tools and resources. When possible, I believe districts and schools should have a 1:1 setting, and those who are not able to achieve this, need to incorporate technology and the data it provides to measure, assess, and ultimately drive initiatives to increase student outcomes. To ensure this is possible, I propose that all P-12 schools have a technology committee in place, whose mission it is to ensure that their school has the education and resources needed to properly implement educational technology resources effectively. My vision includes all stakeholders: students, teachers, administration, and relevant stakeholders who have interest in their respective schools to work together providing input, initiatives, and financial support to ensure that their time and energy is well spent. Scenarios exemplified by my vision would include implementing a 1:1 initiative for schools, training students and teachers how to get the most of their devices, and training teachers on educational technology resources to increase their effectiveness in their classrooms. Also, developing resources and relationships within the community that help finance initiatives, as well as provide experience and connecting our schools directly to the community in which it operates would also be important.
